I’m delighted to welcome you to Washacre Primary School’s website. All of us at Washacre are incredibly proud of our school and in particular all our wonderful children.
Over the last 12 months, our highly skilled and experienced staff have worked incredibly hard to provide a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment where all our children recognise and achieve their fullest potential. We were extremely pleased that this hard work has been reflected in the exceptional improvement in our Key Stage 2 national test results in 2019 and the consistently good results in Early Years and Key Stage 1.
Academic achievements are important, but all our staff understand the importance of developing the whole child and recognising that every child has a talent or dream. All the staff at Washacre aim to give our children opportunities to shine with a wide variety of enriching experiences, whether it be handling birds of prey or being taken out of their comfort zone on a zip wire on the annual residential trip; it might be taking part in the wide variety of sports on offer or singing in the Westhougton Christmas Lights switch on with the choir; or using the I-pads to solve maths problems or VR goggles to visit a Viking settlement – we are dedicated to ensuring the children at our school receive a broad and balanced curriculum.
All our children, parents, governors and staff are treated as individuals and welcomed into the Washacre community. We are especially proud of our pupils who always treat others as they would like to be treated, show respect, are responsible, accountable, fair, honest and courageous, have empathy, persevere, show initiative and optimism and act with integrity. All are wonderful traits to have as a person and are developed through our Character Matters and PSHE programmes.
Whilst our school is by no means the finished article, by continuing to work in partnership with our parents, schools and governors we believe we are well placed to continue on an upward journey at Washacre Primary School. But please don’t take our word for it…have a look at our website, or our Facebook page or Twitter feed are excellent sources for up-to-date information. Even better, arrange an appointment with our wonderful office staff and I would be happy to take you on a visit of our school to meet the children and the staff.
