Keeping Safe Online

Online Safety and Digital Citizenship Reminder
At Washacre Primary Academy, we take online safety and digital citizenship extremely seriously. As social media and online content become an increasingly common part of young people’s lives, it is important that children learn how to navigate the digital world safely, respectfully and responsibly.
Each September, all pupils take part in a Digital Citizenship Online Safety unit at the start of the school year. This teaching is reinforced throughout the year in Computing, PSHE and assemblies, helping pupils understand how to make safe choices online and what to do if they encounter upsetting or inappropriate material.
We would like to remind parents and carers that content shared on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook is not always suitable for children. We encourage you to remain aware of your child’s online activity, use parental controls where possible, and discuss safe and responsible online behaviour at home.
