School Day and Club Information

Breakfast clubs provide an excellent start to the school day. They aim to:

  • Provide a healthy nutritious start to the day;
  • Help children to be alert and ready to learn;
  • Encourage children to mix with their friends;
  • Improve attendance and performance throughout the day;
  • Reassure parents that their child is safe when dropped off in the morning.At Washacre, we strive to provide a friendly environment in which to prepare your child physically and mentally for the day ahead.  Parents- enjoy peace of mind to continue your day, safe in the knowledge that your child will be provided with a healthy breakfast and be cared for until the school day begins.

Washacre Breakfast Club begins from 8.15am and runs daily during term time.  It is run by Mrs Hatton and Mrs Field. It is currently 50p each morning and is open to children from Nursery to Year 6.

We do not currently require parents to pre-book their children’s places, therefore the club can be used on an adhoc basis.

While at our breakfast club your children are well cared for, warm and well fed. The following guidelines are for your information and help us to ensure the health and safety of your children.

  • Children should enter the school hall where breakfast club is run via the hall door near to Year 1;
  • Coats and bags etc. should be left tidily in the designated space of the room;
  • Any dietary needs should be reported to the office in writing;
  • Monies should be paid in advance or on the day;
  • Breakfast will consist of fruit juice, milk or water, and toast;
  • Older children will be expected to help set out the breakfast and help clear away;
  • Quiet activities will be provided for the children after they have eaten;
  • Children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 will be accompanied to class once the club is finished.  The other children will be escorted on to the playground at 8.45am where class teachers will be present outside;
  • The school’s behaviour policy will apply.

The children start school at 8.50am and finish school at 3.15pm.

The school gates will be open for you from 8.30am where you and your child can socialise with other children and parents. Teachers will be outside on the school yard from 8.40am, a perfect opportunity to catch them for a quick question or chat about your child.

The bell will ring at 8.50am, at this time the children will line up with the rest of their class. It is really important that once you have said goodbye to your child you stand back away from the line so the teacher can see all the children and make sure they get into school safely. Please do not walk with your child in the line.  If your child is upset, a member of staff will comfort them and we will ring you later on in the day if needed.

We have assemblies every morning from 10 – 10.20am. These are attended by children from Year 1 to Year 6. The Reception children attend assemblies more regularly as the year progresses.

On a Friday afternoon at 2.45pm, we have a celebration assembly which parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. Please wait in the main reception to be invited through to the school hall.

School finishes at 3.15pm. The main school gate is opened at 3pm. All children should be picked up from the external doors near to their classroom. They should not be picked up from the school office.

Please let the office know if you are running late to pick up your child, or if your child is being picked up by a different person.

School staff are eager to offer after school clubs to children from Reception to Year 6. Letters are sent out at the start of each new term outlining clubs available to your child.

Clubs run from 3.15 – 4.15pm unless stated otherwise.

To secure your child a place on a specific club, please return reply slips as soon as possible. Clubs are run on a first come, first served basis and maximum numbers of children do sometimes apply.
